Robinson Release Destinations
Leaving Robinson Correctional Center can mean three very different events. A transfer moves the person to another IDOC institution and does not end state imprisonment. Institutional release to mandatory supervised release, or MSR, places the person outside prison while IDOC Parole continues supervision. Traditional parole may apply to older indeterminate sentences. Final discharge ends the sentence and supervision. Each event has a different record trail.
The IDOC Individual in Custody Search is the first route while a person is incarcerated or on parole or MSR. Read the exact status, current location or parent institution, and labeled date fields. A change from Robinson to another prison is a transfer. A parole or MSR status can show community release with supervision still active. When the full sentence is complete, IDOC states that the person can disappear from the live search, making an archived-record request the durable path.

Confirm Robinson Release Status
The working IDOC search form accepts last name, IDOC number, or birth date. A partial surname can help, but an IDOC number is the strongest identifier. Match more than a name. Compare birth date, IDOC number, admission details, and sentence information so a common-name result is not mistaken for the intended person.
- Search by IDOC number when it is known, or use last name and birth date.
- Open the matching profile and record the current status or location.
- Read the exact labels for projected parole, projected MSR, and projected discharge.
- Distinguish a future projected date from an actual release event.
- If the sentence is complete and no profile appears, use IDOC’s archived-record process.
A no-result does not prove release. IDOC explains that a person may be discharged, held in county jail, in another state, or indexed under a different name. Public information is also available by calling IDOC at (217) 558-2200. For documentary proof after sentence completion, provide full name, date of birth, IDOC number if known, and the year received into IDOC custody.
A projected date anticipates an event. Confirm actual departure and any continuing supervision through the later IDOC status or release record.
Robinson Date Labels Explained
Illinois profiles may use “Projected Parole Date,” “Projected MSR Date,” and “Projected Discharge Date.” Projected parole or MSR concerns the expected move from prison into supervision. Projected discharge concerns the expected end of the sentence and Department supervision. Neither label proves that the event happened. Credits, corrected jail time, amended sentences, violations, recommitment, lost time, or court action may change the calculation.
MSR is mandatory supervised release after prison for many determinate Illinois sentences. Parole is conditional community release and remains relevant to older indeterminate structures and certain statutory proceedings. Discharge is the later end of the correctional sentence or supervision. Do not collapse all three into “released.” The distinction determines whether to use the prison profile, Parole Division, Prisoner Review Board, or archived records.

Robinson Archived Release Records
IDOC’s live search covers people incarcerated or on parole. Completed sentences require archived records. IDOC lists (217) 558-2200 extension 4166 for FOIA matters. Ask for public fields establishing admission, actual institutional release, parole or MSR, final discharge, status, and sentencing information.
IDOC’s published copy schedule provides the first 50 black-and-white letter or legal pages without charge, then $0.15 per page. It lists $0.59 per page for 8.5-by-11 color copies and actual reproduction cost for other media. Confirm fees when filing. Much of a master record remains confidential, so request the specific public fields needed to establish the custody event.
A former-prisoner photograph should not be promised. IDOC says current photographs may appear in its search, while photographs of former individuals are confidential. A profile still live because parole or MSR continues may display a photo. That does not make it a Crawford County Jail booking image, and it does not establish the release date by itself.
Robinson Hearings and Supervision
The Illinois Prisoner Review Board publishes hearing schedules, revocation material, minutes, and decisions for proceedings within its authority. Its operations and hearing page links current calendars. A calendar may list Robinson Correctional Center and a proceeding date, but scheduling is not an outcome. A Board grant also may precede conditions, processing, another hold, or later action. Confirm physical release in IDOC records.
Modern determinate sentences generally lead to MSR rather than an ordinary discretionary parole hearing. Older indeterminate cases, youthful parole, medical release, revocation, and other proceedings follow separate rules. Never infer that every person at Robinson receives a parole hearing. Where a decision is public, compare it with the later IDOC status. A denial does not calculate every future date, and a grant does not establish a same-day gate exit.

Do not route an IDOC MSR matter to Crawford County probation.
Which Robinson Agency Held Them?
Robinson has both the county jail and an IDOC prison. That local fact creates an easy search error. Crawford County Jail sits at 203 South Jefferson Street and is operated by the sheriff. Robinson Correctional Center is one mile northeast of the city and is operated by IDOC. It houses minimum-security adult men in state custody. A Crawford County arrest does not automatically lead to Robinson Correctional Center, and a Robinson prisoner may have no Crawford County criminal case.
Ask which agency held the person before opening a locator. Use the sheriff roster and release sheet for a county jail episode. Use IDOC status, dates, archives, and Parole sources for a Robinson prison episode. The Crawford County Jail release page covers the county route. This agency check is vital when two records share the city name but describe separate legal custody.
Robinson Reentry Programs
The official Robinson facility page lists preparation programs that include Transitions, Parole School, a Reentry Summit, Life Skills, substance-use programming, parenting, veterans transition, and community work crews. These are institution programs. They are not proof that a named person participated, qualified for release, or left on a certain day.
Program availability should be confirmed with IDOC. Release authority still comes from the sentence, credits, applicable Board action, and other legal conditions. The strongest release check combines the actual IDOC event with the supervision status that follows. Reentry programming supplies context about preparation, not a substitute release record.

Robinson Notification Channels
Illinois VINE can provide notice of a state-custody event. IDOC identifies release, transfer, escape, death, and out-to-court movement as notification categories. That breadth matters at Robinson because leaving the institution may be a transfer rather than community release. Open the Illinois VINELink portal, match the person and supplying agency, and read the exact status language before registering for alerts.
A VINE alert reports what the participating data feed supplied. It is not the complete release record and does not state every release reason or destination. Use IDOC status and archived records for those details. The Prisoner Review Board also operates a separate Victim and Witness Services notification process for Board hearings and actions. Enrolling in VINE does not enroll a person with PRB, and a PRB registration does not replace custody-event alerts.
If a notification is missed, return to the person record and contact the responsible agency. Silence does not prove continued custody. For a federal or immigration transfer, IDOC and Illinois VINE do not become the final locator. Follow the named receiving authority through its own system.
