Crawford Released Mugshot Records
A booking photo records appearance during one arrest and booking episode. It does not establish guilt, conviction, sentence, or release. Illinois FOIA arrest-information law, 5 ILCS 140/2.15, includes photographs when and to the extent an agency possesses them, subject to legal limits. Juvenile, confidential, sealed, expunged, or court-restricted material may not be available.
The Crawford County live roster is expressly a current-custody source. Its booking details can display images, but a person may drop from that view after release. The archive has named release-date fields, yet the research did not verify that every old detail keeps its image. Ask for the exact booking photo when the image is no longer accessible.
Where Crawford Mugshots May Appear
Use the source closest to the booking. A state prison photo is not interchangeable with a county jail photo, and a news image may not be a booking image at all.
| Channel | Photo status | Use and limit |
|---|---|---|
| Sheriff current roster | Visible on current booking details | May vanish after release |
| Sheriff archive detail | Not promised for every result | Open the exact booking and check |
| Sheriff FOIA request | Best official fallback | Request one image by booking number |
| IDOC profile | May show a state photo | Not the county booking photo |
| Sheriff app | No mugshot feature verified | Do not assume a feature from the app listing |
| Press release or news | Sometimes | Selective reporting, not an archive |
| Third-party cache | Sometimes | Not authoritative for release or case outcome |
Crawford Sheriff App Boundary
The Crawford County current roster visibly embeds booking images on current details. Search its surname-initial list, open the matching record, and verify identity with more than a name. Once the person is released, try the named archive and a precise release range. The 24-hour release list method explains that local substitute for a rolling feed.
An official Crawford County Sheriff iOS app listing exists. Its public description promises news and tips, not inmate releases or mugshots. No inmate-photo feature was verified, so the app cannot be presented as a booking-photo source. JailATM and Cidnet are also not release archives.
The official app listing image below documents the source and its stated scope.

Its listing supports use as a sheriff communication channel, not a claim that it offers mugshot search.
Request Crawford Booking Photos
Use the sheriff FOIA form linked from the official department or county document archive. A narrow request is easier to identify and protects against mixing two people with the same name.
- Confirm the full name, date of birth if known, booking number, and approximate booking date.
- Request an electronic copy of the booking photograph tied to that exact booking number.
- Ask for the booking and release timestamps, release authority, and destination if maintained when release proof is also needed.
- State that electronic delivery is preferred and request advance notice of fees.
- If material is withheld, ask for the cited exemption and all segregable nonexempt portions.
Illinois FOIA generally calls for a response within five business days on a noncommercial request, subject to a permitted written extension. That deadline can produce records, an extension, a clarification, or a denial. It is not a promise that the image arrives within five days. The sheriff is at 203 South Jefferson Street, Robinson, IL 62454, phone (618) 546-1515, email sheriff@crawfordcounty.illinois.gov.
Crawford Press Release Photos
The county website maintains a Sheriff Department press-release category alongside the roster. A release may preserve an arrest narrative or agency-supplied image after the live booking view changes. It is selective reporting, not a complete photo archive or release log. Record the publication date, source, and caption, then verify the booking and disposition through official records.
Commercial and other third-party archives may keep cached images. They can be stale, mismatched, or detached from the final case result. Do not rely on them for release status, charges, or disposition. The sheriff's record and Circuit Clerk docket control those facts. An article image may also be a supplied portrait rather than the jail booking photograph.
Correct Crawford Mugshot Records
Correction at the source agency, a court sealing or expungement order, and a request to a publisher are separate processes. Begin with the source when an image is tied to the wrong person or booking. Supply the exact URL or record, booking number, and clear reason for correction. For court relief, use approved Illinois forms and the circuit court connected to the case.
Illinois law at 815 ILCS 505/2QQQ bars covered for-profit publishers from asking for or taking payment to remove, correct, or modify covered criminal-record information after compliant notice. The statute has scope rules and exceptions, including for news media, ISP, and some services carrying third-party content. It does not promise that every photo will be deleted from every place.
Illinois also restricts law-enforcement social-media mugshot publication for specified lower offenses, with stated exceptions. That rule is not a universal FOIA exemption and does not require agencies to publish all photos.
Crawford Expungement Photo Route
The Crawford County Circuit Clerk provides a direct expungement help number, (866) 787-1776. The Illinois Courts approved forms supply the statewide petition and instructions. Eligibility depends on the offense, disposition, history, notice rules, and waiting period. No universal answer is safe.
A granted order can change access to covered official records. It does not by itself erase every copy held by an unrelated publisher. Keep the signed order, confirm agency compliance, and contact each separate publisher through its stated correction process.
Crawford State Prison Photos
An IDOC profile photo concerns state custody. It should never be labeled as the Crawford County Jail booking image unless the county itself supplied the same image for that booking. A live IDOC profile may remain while a person is on parole. After complete discharge, IDOC says former-person photographs are confidential, so no archived image should be promised.
Use the IDOC search landing page only when the record shows state custody. For a county episode, request the sheriff image. For legal outcome, consult the Circuit Clerk. This three-source split prevents one photograph from being made to prove facts it cannot show.
Match Crawford Booking Photos
Start with the booking number. It links the photograph to one custody episode and separates repeat bookings. Also compare full name, birth date, intake date, charges as recorded at booking, and facility. Charges are allegations at that stage. The later court disposition may show dismissal, acquittal, plea, verdict, or another result.
A county photo and an IDOC photo document different systems. Robinson Correctional Center is a state prison, while Crawford County Jail is run by the sheriff. When the jail record names a transfer to IDOC, keep the county image attached to its booking and treat any IDOC image as a later state record.
Do not use an identifiable image merely as decoration. Screenshots should show the channel or form where possible, with needless personal details cropped or redacted. Public access does not remove the need for accurate attribution and a factual caption.
Prove Crawford Release Separately
The county archive supports name, intake-range, and release-range searches, with a 15-day maximum span per query. It is not a rolling release feed. No cadence or total retention statement is published. Open the matching detail to see whether an old image remains. If not, request the exact image.
For release proof, record booking number, release date and time, release reason or authority, and destination. A destination naming another custodian means transfer, not community release. Then reconcile the legal outcome through the Circuit Clerk's unsealed docket.
The clerk's office is on the courthouse second floor and is open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Public unsealed records may be viewed, and copies are available for a small fee. The docket explains what happened after the photo, while the sheriff supplies the processed release event.
Crawford Photo Request Limits
A photograph may be restricted because a record is juvenile, confidential, sealed, expunged, covered by a court order, or subject to a cited FOIA exemption. A denial should identify its legal basis and review rights. Ask for segregable nonexempt material rather than assuming the whole booking record has one status.
Website removal is not a retention schedule. Illinois's Local Records Act governs county retention and lawful disposal. If retention matters, ask the sheriff to identify the records-series authorization. A roster entry disappearing after release says only that the live page no longer shows it.
After IDOC discharge, ask whether a public photograph exists, but do not promise one. IDOC guidance states that former-individual photographs are confidential. That state policy does not decide access to a separate Crawford sheriff booking photo.
Context for Crawford Mugshots
The Crawford criminal docket can outlast a short jail stay and supply context that a photograph lacks. Ask for the public pretrial order, dismissal, plea or verdict, sentence, custody credit, probation order, mittimus, revocation, and final satisfaction or discharge entry as relevant. A mittimus can show that the jail stay ended in an IDOC transfer rather than release into the community.
Online convenience indexes may not contain every case or document. The official clerk remains the source for public unsealed files. A no-result may reflect spelling, portal coverage, access limits, retention, sealing, or expungement. It must not be read as proof that no booking occurred, just as an image must not be read as proof of conviction.
Keep the source date with any saved lawful image. A current-roster screenshot proves what the sheriff vendor displayed at that time. A press-release image proves what the county published with that report. Neither proves the later case outcome. The sheriff release record and court docket are the needed follow-up records.
